Joaquín, the Priest, will receive the Medal of the Villa de Bullas (13/06/2018)

Next Saturday, June 16, an institutional act is celebrated for the first time for the commemoration of Villa Day.

It is thus remembered the birth of the municipality of Bullas at the end of the 17th century.

The act will begin at 20.30 in the House of Culture and during its course will be awarded to Joaquín Sánchez, popularly known as Joaquín el Cura, the Medal of the Villa de Bullas.

Biography of Joaquín Sánchez

Born in 1962 Joaquín Sánchez Sánchez is the son of a humble family, who had to change his residence several times until finally settled in Bullas.

Ever since he was young, Joaquín has perceived that faith must be manifested in a personal conversion and an effective social commitment.

Ordained priest in July 1987, his first destination is a parish located in a neighborhood of Cieza, with a large sector of social marginalization.

Member of the Brotherhood of Workers of Catholic Action (HOAC), n in which he will become a counselor of the Workers' Pastoral Delegation of the Diocese of Cartagena, and of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Action, the struggle for justice and social changes they make him represent the HOAC in different areas, being a fundamental element of union and fraternization.

His continued approach to the most disadvantaged sectors led him to accept being a chaplain in the prison of Sangonera for many years - and then, after leaving the parish in which he was, to become chaplain in the Psychiatric Centers, in the Center occupational for physically disabled people, and in the Residence for the elderly.

The concern to form and his love for the world of education lead him to pursue several years of studies in Pedagogy, Higher Technician in Early Childhood Education and the diploma in Social Education.

An avid reader, he is also a frequent contributor to the Murcia press and the author of several books such as "La vida, un exodo" (2004), "A letter from God" (2006), and "In the fragility of life" (2015) .
