With the proclamation of María Jesús Quesada, the Patron Saint Festivities begin (01/10/2018)

Last Friday, September 30, after the first chupinazo of 'El tio de la Pita' was carried out the reading of the proclamation and imposition of bands to the ladies of the festeras clubs in a ceremony held at the House of Culture to which There were also neighbors, friends and family of the pregue, María Jesús Quesada, as well as the festive clubs, local authorities, the Municipal Corporation and the visits of the Director of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and regional deputies of the PP and PSOE.

It started with the music of a group of percussionists who delighted the audience with classic songs such as 'La Vida es Bella', a band that sounds like the movie with the same title.

Then, the bands were imposed on the four ladies of the clubs: La Rosarico, La Cebolla, La Barrecha and La Bota.

With the presence of the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, on stage the delivery of the figure of the child 'Baco', very representative of the culture of Bullas linked to wine since the Roman era, was given to the singer.

María Jesús Quesada made a very emotional proclamation and at the same time applauded by the audience.

She looked back to remember how she lived as a child in a family atmosphere, the daughter of a winegrower, grew up with three brothers and since childhood knew that she wanted to be one more and be treated equally regardless of gender.

As she recognized, "as a child I was aiming to be somewhat rebellious, restless and very anxious to learn, although at the same time I was calm and fulfilling of my obligations".

She remembered her youthful time in the parish choir and how she started working in the factory where she joined a group of five women to demand rights such as payroll, social security, etc.

what cost him his job and discussions with family and neighbors, although he said he was proud because after all that for what they fought would come true.

During her time as an enterprising woman and worker in the company she co-founded in 1987, Quesos Palancares, she explained how hard it was to take care of her work and at the same time raise her children and responsibilities at home, but that she felt very motivated

The work gave him joys and worries that with hard effort was overcome and today made the name of Palancares continue in the market of cheese to wine and be known worldwide.

Something that produces pride and joy for generating employment here in his town.

In this sense, she wanted to dedicate everything she had achieved to her husband Juan, who died of illness.

Finally, she closed her reading of the proclamation with an emotive video of photographs about her life and Bullas with the music of "Un pueblo es" by María Ostiz.

Of course, there was no lack of cheers for the Virgin, parties and Bullas before they left the stage.

The ceremony of the proclamation ended with the Mayor, congratulating all the parties and together with the Councilman of Celebrations, the festive ladies, the proclaimer and the President of the Bullas Wine Route, Toñi Fernández, made a toast for the days that They are to come full of hope and joy.
