The Life SEC ADAPT Project fights to mitigate the effects of Climate Change in Bullas (11/04/2019)

Recently, the multipurpose room of the Wine Museum hosted a meeting in which Bullas City Council announced the achievements and objectives achieved with the Life SEC ADAPT Project.

The Councilor for Finance, Juan Pedro Muñoz, was in charge of explaining that this Project, in which partners from Italy, Greece, Spain and Croatia have participated, lasted 46 months and had a European contribution of 1,928,225 euros.

The municipality of Bullas, like Patras in Greece and Ancona in Italy, participated from their previous experience in another Life project on climate change.

In this sense, Muñoz stressed that "our work in this European project has consisted in advising and telling our acquired experience".

In addition, Bullas was responsible for compiling a series of information with which a report was written on the socio-economic impact that climate change is having on all the municipalities that are part of the Project.

Likewise, with the participation of Bullas in the Life SEC ADAPT it was possible to develop an update of the SEAP, Action Plan for Sustainable Energy;

a series of energy studies of municipal buildings have been carried out;

the updating of the Local Adaptation Plan for Climate Change and another action still under development, such as the integration of said Plan in the Municipal General Plan for Urban Planning, PGMOU.

Regarding the Adaptation to Climate Change Plan, Eva Merloni, External Expert, was in charge of presenting its update, in which it became clear that it is the key tool of the municipal strategy for adaptation and mitigation to the effects produced by the changes at the climatic level.

Finally, there was an acknowledgment of "Good Local Practices for Climate" given by the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, to Bodegas del Rosario for her participation, together with the companies Microgaia Biotech and Eurovértice, in the Life Sarmiento Project for applying an innovative solution for reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the vineyard.
