Culture declares Well Billed by its cultural relevance archaeological site Canteras El Pinar de Bullas (10/10/2016)

The Ministry of Culture and Spokesman declared Well Billed by its cultural relevance Canteras archaeological site of El Pinar, located in the municipality of Bullas.

The process began just over a year and the final decision will be officially published this week in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM).

The archaeological site of El Pinar Canteras is located west of the town of Bullas, 500 meters from the Roman villa of Fuente del Romero.

Currently, three sectors differ in the reservoir.

To the north, in the area occupied by a pine forest area, are visible numerous excavations on the ground with fronts extraction of blocks of quarry, some with monumentality and up to four meters high visible, which shows an important industrial activity over time and production.

In the southern part of pinewood square structures with visible walls are located on the ground constitute a well-preserved room, perhaps related to a possible area of ​​habitat area workers.

South of this area is also located a number of old terraced terracing cultivation, currently without production, where plenty of archaeological material productions of Iberian tradition and other likely later Roman chronology is.

The archaeological site of El Pinar Canteras can relate to the very next Roman village of Fuente del Romero, constituting a work area related to it and specialized in quarrying.

The general director of Cultural Heritage, Maria Comas, said that "from the regional government work for the proper conservation of our rich cultural and historical heritage so that future generations can continue to enjoy our deposits and other unique spaces that form our identity and our history and contributing also to turn the region into an attraction for those who visit us. "

From now on, thanks to this statement, any intervention intended to be made in the protected area of ​​the site of Bullas must be authorized by the Directorate General of Cultural Assets and holders of good will guard it and protect it, according to the law of Cultural heritage of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, to avoid destruction or deterioration.
