Yesterday we celebrated the final of the First Bullas Wine Contest Contest, organized by the Bullas Wine Route Association, with the collaboration of the town councils of Bullas and Cehegín and the Bullas Protected Designation of Origin Regulatory Council, Together with the participation of the schools and training centers of Hospitality and Tourism of the Region.
The thirty-one aspirants to "Ambassador" performed a preliminary or qualifying phase on 22 May in Cehegín demonstrating their theoretical knowledge about the Denomination of Origin.
Only six reached the final where yesterday at the Wine Museum they had to improvise a marriage on a hypothetical six-course meal;
Discover the mistakes of a wine list;
Identify in a blind tasting seven drinks, indicating type of wine, area, add and proposals of pairing and demonstrate their mastery in the decantation and service of the wine.
Young Jonatan Vinal de Fortuna was proclaimed winner, followed in second place by Gabriel Sanchez and third place Jose Antonio Martinez.
With this title and distinction Vinal will participate in the most relevant events in which the Wine Route is present, as well as other promotional events that they propose from the Association during a year.
The jury, composed of sommeliers and members of the Academy of Gastronomy, was presided over by the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, and was attended by the President of the Bullas PDO, Francisco Carreño, the President of the Route, Toñi Fernández, and the Director of the Museum, Salvador Martínez.
All agreed to point out the success of the initiative to be something new in the Region of Murcia and the welcome as it is the first call.
