The mortal remains of the Servant of God Fernando Martínez Gea rest in his native parish of Bullas (13/06/2017)

The mortal remains of the Servant of God Fernando Martínez Gea already rest in the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary of Bullas.

This priest from the north-west of Murcia is within the cause of the diocesan canonization of José Gómez Llor and fellow martyrs.

Fernando Martínez Gea was born in Bullas on August 22, 1900 and was baptized the same day of his birth.

He received the priestly order on May 26, 1926. He was coadjutor of Yeste and Tus and later rector of the caravaqueñas districts of Los Royos and Tarragoya, as well as rector of La Copa and coadjutor of Our Lady of the Rosary of Bullas.

He was martyred on October 21, 1936, at the age of 36.

Last Saturday, the Bishop of Cartagena presided over the celebration of the Eucharist in which the mortal remains of Fernando Martínez Gea were buried in the altar of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of his native parish.

The previous day, the remains of the niche of the family pantheon were exhumed in the presence of the ecclesiastical notary, the parish priest and his more direct relatives.

After examining the remains, verifying them and collecting the pertinent minutes, in accordance with the provisions of the Sanctorum Mater, the body was deposited in a new coffin.

Sealed the coffin was guarded in the new pantheon of priests until the following day.

At 9:30 am on Saturday, the parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary of Bullas, Juan Jose Noguera, opened the door of the pantheon of priests to transfer the remains of Fernando Martínez Gea to the local parish.

Six families carried the coffin to the hearse to begin the journey, praying the Holy Rosary.

On the way they made a stop at Calle Fiel, next to the house that saw him born on August 22, 1900.

Once in the church, several priests, children of Bullas, transferred the coffin with the remains of D. Fernando to the interior of the temple.

Once located at the foot of the altar, at the feet of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary, a center with 36 red roses, one for each year of life, was placed on its coffin.

During the celebration of the Eucharist, the Bishop thanked God for the life of Fernando Martínez Gea, a priest of the Diocese, who died defending his faith in Christ.

Monsignor Lorca invited all those present to live the call to holiness that they all received at the very moment of their baptism.

After reading and signing the numerous acts that attest to all that took place and necessary for the process already in Rome, the bishop was sealed with the seal of the coffin which was then moved to the Chapel Of the Sacred Heart of Jesus enabled for this purpose.

"In this chapel there are two things related to the priestly ministry of Don Fernando: Having been ordained on May 29, 1926, he celebrated his first Mass on the feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the patron of Bullas, Under whose image his remains now rest;

In addition, at his first Mass, he preached D. Alfonso Ródenas García, a native of Bullas, who would later be ordained Bishop of Almeria and whose episcopal shield is in the front of the urn with the remains of the Servant of God, "explains the pastor of Bullas

Monsignor Lorca blessed the urn containing the coffin and incensó the mortal remains of the Servant of God, to be definitively closed on this altar, "without being able to reopen if it is not with the express permission of the Ordinary of the Diocese."
