Last Saturday was published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia the declaration of Cultural Interest (BIC) of the archaeological site of the four statues-fountain in marble from the Roman town of Los Cantos de Bullas.
Previously, the Governing Council of Wednesday, October 25 had approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, said statement.
The value of this sculptural ensemble for its declaration as BIC is based on the fact that they have a remarkable archaeological, stylistic, functional and chronological coherence.
The four were part of the same ornamental program of the domestic area of ​​the village of Los Cantos, forming a unique and indivisible archaeological site.
Three of the four statues, dated in the second century AD and recovered in September 2016 by agents of the Civil Guard of Murcia in the framework of Operation 'Kairos', within the Plan for the Defense of the Spanish Historical Heritage, are in the present in the Bullas Wine Museum in permanent exhibition to the public.
The declaration as BIC has favorable reports from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Santa María de la Arrixaca and the University of Murcia.
