II Bullas History and Heritage Conference (10/04/2018)

The Councilman of Culture, Antonio José Espín, yesterday presented the II Conference on 'History and Heritage Bullas' that are held on 20, 21 and 22 April and that will feature the interventions of experts in the field.

Accompanied by Francisco Marsilla, Professor of History at the University of Murcia and Coordinator of the Permanent Headquarters of the University in the municipality, the Culture Councilor stressed that after the success of the first days the organizers, both the City Council and the Heritage Commission of the Culture Board and the Cultural Association 'Villa de Bullas', it was decided to repeat this activity every year in order to promote knowledge, defense, conservation and the promotion of heritage and local history.

On Friday, April 20, the conference starts in the auditorium of the House of Culture with the inauguration by the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, and Antonio José Espín at 7:00 p.m.

Next, the Head of the Historical Heritage Service of the General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Miguel San Nicolás del Toro, will give a presentation on the concept of 'Cultural Heritage'.

And Friday closes, Alfredo Porrúa, Archaeologist and Bachelor of History, to talk about the 'Venus de Bullas' and its relationship with the archaeological context of the Villa de 'Los Cantos'.

Porrúa is knowledgeable about the subject since he has been the coordinator of the archaeological inventory of the Roman site.

The next day, the first presentation will be at 10 in the morning and will be borne by the Civil Engineer and member of the Cultural Association Villa de Bullas, for the defense and promotion of culture and heritage, Alfonso Muñoz, who will talk about heritage cultural catalog of Bullas.

Then, before the break, Rodrigo Fernández, Graduated in History and with a Master's Degree in Historical Written Heritage, will explain what the publicity writing of the Tower of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Bullas was like, its historical study and the epigraph of The bells.

The morning of Saturday ends talking about the military and naturalist Juan Sánchez Cisneros (1766-1838), a bullfighter in the reign of Fernando VII.

Juan Miguel Casanova, Doctor in Mineralogy and Geological Resources from the University of Valencia, Professor of Biology and Geology at the Benaguasil IES in Valencia and President of the Valencian Society of Mineralogy.

In the afternoon, at 5.30 pm the conference is resumed with the presentation on the Baroque Sculpture in Murcia before Francisco Salzillo.

It will be María del Carmen Sánchez, PhD in Art History and Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Murcia as well as researcher and academic from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa María de la Arrixaca, responsible for it.

At half past six in the afternoon, the Graduate in History and Diploma in Social Education, Master's Degree in History and Historical Heritage, Juan José Martínez, will offer a talk about what was documented in Bullas through the General Cause.

And to finish, the Historian and also a member of the Cultural Association Villa de Bullas, José Luis García, will talk about the Civil War in Bullas.

Events, economy and society in a town of the republican rearguard.

In addition, on Saturday night there will be a tasting of wines from the Bullas Protected Denomination of Origin for all attendees.

Finally, on Sunday the Conference ends with free guided tours for all attendees and participants to the House Museum D. Pepe Marsilla, Archeology Classroom and Wine Museum.

Also, that day photographers will be able to participate in the 1st Bullas Heritage Photo Marathon organized by the Bullas Photographic Association together with the council and in which 370 euros will be distributed in prizes, as highlighted in the presentation of the One of the founding members of the Association, Miguel Ángel del Baño.

Those interested in attending, are days of general interest, as explained by Professor Marsilla during his speech at the presentation, they will have to collect a free accreditation to go to them and the guided route through the main museums in the town.

Attendees to the papers will receive a 9-hour accreditation for subsequent recognition by the University of Murcia.

In parallel, other activities will be carried out.

Thus, throughout the 2017/2018 academic year, guided historical routes have been conducted with 5th and 6th grade primary school students from Bullas and La Copa.
