Designation of Origin Bullas celebrates its 20th anniversary with a national gathering of wine regions (19/02/2014)

A total of 11 wineries participating in this event in which thirty new feature wines made ​​in the last campaign

The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, today along with the mayor of Bullas, Pedro Chico and the chairman of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin of Bullas, Francisco Carreño, the seventh sign of the PDO Bullas, which will be held on 24th and 25th February.

A total of 11 wineries will participate in this event with thirty samples of wines made in the last campaign.

The show will be preceded by the celebration in Bullas, next Friday, February 21, in the Assembly of the Spanish Conference of Regulatory Boards Vitivinícolas, which is part of the events organized to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Control Board.

Cerda said that this Designation of Origin, which was created in 1994, "is the youngest of the region, but also the broader" because it covers nine municipalities of Murcia northwest, with a registered area of ​​2,200 hectares, which nine varieties of different grapes, among which are grown Monastrell.

The Denomination of Origin has 600 growers and 11 wineries bottling.

DO Bullas last season increased 17 percent export its wines, mainly to the USA, Holland, Canada, Germany, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Norway, China and Japan.

The Minister of Agriculture noted that this increase in exports is due "to the care of farmers in the cultivation of the vine and its environment, the modernization of the wineries in the processes of development and its quest to capture interest and tastes consumer before a market is heterogeneous and very competitive. "

Meanwhile, the mayor of Bullas, Pedro Chico, explained that since January 31, Bullas held various activities related to wine, and stressed the importance of wine tourism in the town, as an alternative for tourists and visitors.

The chairman of the Regulatory Council of the DO Bullas, Francisco Carreño stressed that this sample "is the presentation of who we are and what we do" and stressed the quality objectives and promotion.

Awards Gala

The Seventh Sign Bullas hosts many activities held for two days, among which are various tastings of different wines DO Bullas, visit places of interest in wine and VII Quality Contest Wine DO Bullas, including the Calendar published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment official wine competitions and officially recognized to be held in 2014 in the country.

Among the bases that regulate this event, has established three awards (gold, silver and bronze) for each of the categories of white, rosé, red wood-young, young red wood and red wines aged in wood.

The awards are granted may not exceed 30 percent of total samples submitted to the contest.

Choosing the best wines will be held through a blind tasting with the participation of specialists in wine tasters representatives of various sectors of oenology.

The tasting will take place under the guidance of Adrian Martinez Cutillas, manage IMIDA.

The gala awards ceremony at which the awards to the winning wines are awarded Quality Contest, will be held on February 25 in Bullas.
