The Bullas Tourist Office recognized as the best in the Region during 2008 (16/03/2009)

The Bullas Tourist Office has today received an award from the Office Network of the Region of Murcia as the best tourist information establishing the Community in 2008.

The award demonstrates the compliance with quality standards ISO 9001, while recognizing the organization's background and the volume of applications and services.

In particular, the assessment criteria have focused on such factors as the degree of qualification of staff, the percentage of surveys, the results thereof, the state of communications with other offices and agencies, developments in the office and the professionalism of the whole.

Branch Network celebrates it the fourth edition of his awards, annually since 2006, has recognized the work of the offices of Cieza, Aguilas, Lorca and now Bullas.

Regarding the latter path, it is noteworthy that joined the branch network in 2005 and obtained ISO 9001 certificate in 2006.

The director general of Tourism, Angel Campos, presented the award to the mayor of Bullas, Esteban Egea, who attended the ceremony on behalf of the municipality.

During his speech, Campos said, "the tourist offices and the Internet are currently the best tools to recruit, disseminate and promote tourism in the region both among themselves and among the foreign Murcia."

Thus, with regard to official tourism portal of the Region of Murcia, www.murciaturistica.es, Campos recalled that last year the web came to register a total of 4 million page views and a weekly entry that revolved around 10,000 visitors, the most interested domestic tourists, followed by the British and Germans, respectively.

On the other hand, according to figures provided by the network of Tourist Offices, in 2008 the offices of the region provided 475,937 services and served a total of 459,993 tourists in person.

Of these, 177,006 came from the national level, 160,663 of the regional and the rest were foreigners, translating these figures into percentages of 37, 34 and 29 percent respectively.

So in 2008, the origin of foreign visitors was mostly British with 54 percent, followed by French with 12 and Germany with 10.

As for domestic tourists, the most numerous were the locals that exceeded 44,000, followed by over 18,000 from Alicante and Barcelona with 17,968.

With regard to the information requested, in 2008 gave 268,000 planes, 237,000 leaflets and 76,000 cultural brochures of holidays and festivals, which is a 32, 28 and 9 percent of the requested information.

During the presentation, it was stressed that 53 percent of tourists who came to the tourist offices in 2008 were interested in the cultural product, 21 percent of the sun and beach and 5 holidays and local festivals .

In addition, Campos noted that throughout this year will launch a new training program that will aim primarily at enhancing the language skills of office staff, increasing awareness of the local environment, reduce the nonconformities visitors and impart a greater volume of tourist information in general.

Finally, the director of Tourism announced that it will soon be applied to the tourism offices of the Mystery Guest system, also known as the mysterious client, through which a technician is present in several offices in disguise with the intent seeking their views on the quality of service and care provided to further improve the deficiencies and optimize management of these resources.
