Last Sunday an act was celebrated in the Plenary Hall of the Bullas Town Hall in honor of three neighbors of Bullas who have reached 100 years of age.
The honorees were María Gea Ruíz, Eva Marsilla and Antonio Gil Mateos.
The neighbor María Gea Ruíz born in 1918 in La Copa, unfortunately there was the coincidence of her death the day before her tribute.
During the act a minute of silence was kept, out of respect for his family and as a sign of mourning for his death.
Another honoree was Eva Marsilla López, born in Bullas in 1918. She was unable to attend due to health reasons and her relatives picked up the plaque and the corresponding bouquet of flowers, showing her appreciation for this gesture by the City Council.
Antonio Gil Mateos born in 1919 in La Copa attended the event and he himself picked up the plaque and the bouquet of flowers.
In addition, he was in charge of discovering the handmade brick plate that is already placed in the monolith that looks on the Paseo de los Centenarios with the names of all the centenarians.
"This tribute does not judge their lives, but recognizes the exceptionality of their 100th birthday," said the Councilor for Culture, Alfonso Sánchez, during the event in which the Mayor, María Dolores Muñoz, was also present.
Both recognized that honored neighbors have had the opportunity to experience such drastic and rapid changes, at a social, economic and political level, such as a war, post-war and dictatorship, as well as a change to democracy and finally a technological revolution.
