IV Conference of History and Heritage of Bullas (20/02/2020)

The City of Bullas, through the Department of Culture and Heritage and the collaboration of the Cultural Association Villa de Bullas, the Photographic Association Bullas and the Permanent Headquarters of the University of Murcia (UMU), organizes for the fourth consecutive year the fourth day of History and Heritage of Bullas that will be held in the auditorium of the House of Culture on February 28 and 29 and March 1.

On Friday, February 28, they open at 7:00 pm in an event attended by Mayor María Dolores Muñoz, the Councilor for Heritage, Carmen Abellán and the Councilor for Culture, Alfonso Sánchez.

The first day will feature Salvador Martínez, Director of the Bullas Wine Museum and the Don Pepe House-Museum Ethnographic Museum to discuss archaeological works at the Roman Site of Los Cantos de Bullas.

And then, Esteban Egea, Doctor in History and Geography from the University of Murcia, will close, as well as a Law Degree and Professor.

The former mayor of Bullas will address in his presentation on 'The Mula River: hydraulic heritage and conflicts over its use during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries'.

On Saturday 29, the day runs throughout the day.

It begins at 10.30 am with the presentation of Juan Carlos Martín, a third year student of the History degree of the University of Murcia, to talk about the 1823 census as a source for the historical research of Bullas.

Then, at 11.45 am, María Ángeles Blanco, Professor of Geography and History of the IES Los Cantos, will explain how the revolutionary sexennium was in Bullas (1868-1874).

Then, at 13 hours there will be a theatrical recreation by the company Guerreros de Tudmir on the "Pila robá".

This company will also recreate a medieval camp.

In the afternoon the day is resumed at 5.30pm.

Next, Francisco Marsilla, Historian and Professor of the University in the area of ​​Historiographic Sciences and Techniques at the University of Murcia, in his presentation, will discuss the language of soil in Bullas: reference to its toponymy in the Middle Ages.

That day ends with a talk colloquium by neighbors of Bullas, living testimonies of recent history, talking about life and customs of Bullas in the mid-twentieth century.

Finally, on Sunday, March 1, which coincides with the celebration of the 'El Zacatín' market, the 1st Local Authors Fair will be held in this environment, in addition the III Photographic Marathon on Bullas Heritage will be held, with the collaboration of the Bullas Photo Association.

Also, within the framework of these days you can visit the exhibition 'Subiectum: archaeological photography from land and air' from March 27 to 5 in the House of Culture.

In addition, residents who wish to do so may obtain the third issue of the magazine 'El Arco', which will be available at the Office of Cultural Management and City Hall of Bullas.
