The Councilor for the Environment of the City of Bullas, Juan Valera, yesterday attended the convocation of the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth of Channels of the Taibilla (MCT) in the water treatment plant of Sierra de la Espada to address the problem of water scarcity that affects the Region.
One of the measures explained Adolfo Gallardo, Government delegate in the MCT, is that next year, the municipalities of Guadalentín Valley will receive desalinated water with emergency works.
In addition, he recalled that municipalities must "tighten their belts" to save 15% of water in populations of more than 20,000 inhabitants.
In this sense, the municipality of Bullas joins the latter measure voluntarily.
In fact, the consistory is already promoting the cleaning of streets with non-potable water and is also proceeding to save water in parks and gardens.
"If everyone in our house makes a small effort, we will contribute to a more rational use of water resources and to saving as precious and scarce as water, because the water you waste today, you will need it tomorrow," says the mayor of Environment who assures that at the moment there are no restrictions on human supply since at present the desalination is the main source of water supply for the Commonwealth (around 60%) in the absence of water from the Tajo Transfer closed since last may
Juan Valera also asked the Water Commissioner if he plans to add more drought wells to supply the Taibilla Canals, so as not to suffer cuts, to which the Commissioner replied that possibilities are being considered for opening new wells.
At present, water is being received from drought wells in Hellín and Abarán.
The mayors of Calasparra, Moratalla and Mula were present at the meeting, as well as the councilors of Cehegin and Caravaca de la Cruz, as well as representatives of other municipalities that are supplied by the MCT.
