Inaugurated the municipal photovoltaic installation as a measure to fight against energy poverty (16/02/2018)

This morning has been inaugurated the photovoltaic installation located on the deck of the Mateo Caballero Pavilion that will mean energy savings for the City of Bullas, in addition to numerous social benefits with the creation of an 'Energy Bank' or 'Solar Bank' that will manage from Social services.

This energetic self-consumption project was a proposal within the framework of the 2017 Participated Budgets made by Francisco Espín, Manager of the Efficiency Services Consulting company of Bullas, and which was supported by the majority of residents, as explained by the Mayor of Bullas, María Dolores Muñoz, to those present during the ceremony held in the sports facilities of the municipal pavilion.

"We are proud that the most voted initiative within the Participatory Budgets of last year is the one we are inaugurating today, an initiative that fulfills several objectives such as the environmental benefit, since we reduce CO2 emissions, and above all, social, by trying alleviate energy poverty "said the first Edil, explaining that" the Social Services workers, to whom we thank their work, will be responsible for compensating the kWh of the 'Energy Bank' of the self-consumption facility of their supply contract for compensate the most needy families. "

Last December began the construction of the photovoltaic installation that had a budget of 13,020 euros, with the municipal contribution of 9,972 euros.

A photovoltaic generator of 6,480 kW, reduces to 7,152 kWh the 15,482 kWh consumed annually by the municipality's Social Services.

What is equivalent, approximately, to the electricity consumption of 2 families, approximately 2,000 €.

For the promoter of this initiative "this project is only a first step for the realization of other similar projects, since we already have another proposal underway with an additional investment of € 50,000 for the expansion of this project incorporating lithium batteries to accumulate the surplus not consumed, the installation of 9.72 kWp of self-consumption in the recreational tourist complex of La Rafa, and 4.68 kWp to supply the existing pumping of water recirculation in the Paseo de los Centenarios ".

The event was also attended by José Blanco, former Minister of Public Works and current MEP in the European Parliament, who said that "in Europe we aim to achieve total decarbonization of the economy by the year 2050, and therefore, we have to Going to take all the steps for a greater use of renewable energy "as is the example of Bullas, stating that" we are going to test a renewable directive of which I am a speaker that will demand a greater presence of renewables in sectors such as heating, refrigeration, transport, as well as in the energy sector, these are very ambitious objectives and that ambition with the climate to generate employment ".

In addition, they have attended this inauguration, among others, the General Secretary of the Socialist Party in the Region of Murcia, Diego Conesa, councilors of the municipal corporation, mayors of the Northwest Region and Rio Mula, technicians and companies of the town as well as representatives of the distribution company of electricity and the cooperative Murcia marketing 'La Solar'.
