The United States, China, Germany and the United Kingdom are the main countries to which the wines produced in this area are exported, with a marketing of about 2,400 hectoliters, which represents approximately 14 percent of the total sales.

Destination of wine tourism

On the other hand, the general director of the Institute of Tourism, Manuel Fernández-Delgado, showed in the meeting "the great potential of Bullas as a wine tourism destination", not only for its wines of the highest quality, but for its cellars, oil mills and specialized establishments, since it has an important patrimonial wealth, landscape and an offer of "exceptionally varied" experiences.

In this regard, he recalled, the Region is the only uniprovincial community with three wine routes certified by ACEVIN: Jumilla, Yecla and Bullas.

For the latter, 21,612 visitors passed during 2017, a volume that the Tourism Institute intends to increase this year by five percent.

Also, Fernández-Delgado recalled that "the promotion of wines with Denomination of Origin has become one of the priorities within the Plan of Promotion of Gastronomic Tourism of the Region of Murcia 2017-2020, whose main objective is to identify the Region as a preferred destination to enjoy a Mediterranean and healthy gastronomy and quality wines ".

This line of work seeks to raise awareness among the local population of the regional gastronomic wealth, promoting the consumption of local products, as well as tourist and catering entrepreneurs in order to boost the presence of these products in the offer of their establishments.
