The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, today highlighted the "commitment to teaching and research" the new president of the Control Board Wine Appellation of Origin Bullas, Francisco Carreño, agriculture and rural areas, during the inauguration from office, held last night at the Wine Museum of Bullas.
Carreño, which replaces the presidency to José Sánchez Lozano, was unanimously elected in the election process that began last April.
According to Cerda, the new president "knows perfectly" registered area of ​​the Control Board, which comprises eight municipalities in the region.
Responsible for Agriculture stressed that the DO Bullas is "the youngest producing area," adding that its "off" has put the wine Bullens "among the first choices for the consumer."
Francisco Carreño is vice president of the Governing Board of the Cooperative Nuestra Senora del Rosario, the first winery in the DO Bullas enrolled in 1994, and "opted for the tourist promotion of the wines of this land" from the presidency of the Association of Road Bullas Wine, one of three wine routes in the region.
He is the founder, secretary and treasurer of the Association Noratur and professor of applied economics at the University of Murcia in the area of ​​Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, as well as president of the Forest Owners Association of the Region of Murcia (Profomur).
Bullas Designation of Origin covers an area of ​​2,300 hectares of vineyards, and concentrates more than 600 winegrowers in the towns of Bullas, Cehegín, Mula and Ricote, in part, the towns of Calasparra, Caravaca, Moratalla Lorca.
