Local Police Bullas assists in DGT campaign on seat belts and child restraints (07/09/2015)

Local Police Bullas has joined the campaign that will conduct the Traffic Department between Monday September 13 and on surveillance and control of seat belts and child restraint systems (CRS), as a measure to Recalling the need for its use.

The DGT and the council also recall the mandatory use of child restraints are mandatory for children less than 1.35 meters high.

According to data from the DGT, nine out of ten children or fatal injuries could have been avoided if they had used compulsory retention systems.

In 2014 23% of deceased users of cars and vans on intercity roads were not using a seat belt in urban areas and this percentage rises to 30%.

With regard to the seriously injured on interurban roads not using seat belts and 9% on urban roads 17%.

So from the Department of Public Safety state that the seat belt is a "basic and fundamental" element of road safety and halve the risk of death in a crash.

Surveillance and enforcement with respect to the use of seat and restraint systems has become one of the most effective ways to maintain and increase the rate of seat belt use among vehicle occupants.
