Environment Councilman Juan Valera Gea has recently held a meeting with the Water Commissioner of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Carlos González Martínez, to discuss various issues affecting the municipality of Bullas.
At the meeting the mayor got the commitment of the Commissioner to meet the demands of irrigators inheritances of the sources of 'Cabecico' and 'Arroyo Hurtado' to control readings wells used for irrigation is taken and check not exhaustively water concessions given by this organism are exceeded.
Furthermore, the council also asked the CHS cleaning sections of watercourses that are within the municipality of Bullas well as being a priority for the government team of environmental issues, a minimum ecological flow for the Mula River.
In conversation with the Commissioner and in accordance with the requirements established by the Water Framework Directive, adopted in December 2000 and binding on the State Spanish, whose ultimate goal is to make the rivers and streams to recover their ecological status, it was requested the CHS study by technicians, geologists and hydrologists, water spring to birth again.
Valera explained that he is aware that "the water of the Fountain Mula can re-emerge without thereby causing decrease in the well of Pradillo and could even increase the flow for irrigation without any expense for irrigators Pantano de la Cierva" .
