Winning the Jubilee through the gastronomic tourism (09/12/2015)

Recently, the Academy of Gastronomy of the Region of Murcia has been found in the Wine Museum of Bullas ideal to celebrate one of its most distinguished culinary events of the year scenario.

He has been called "the first Gastronomic coordinate", an informative tasting event that addresses a cultural issue of regional where gastronomy is the thread of it.

For this occasion, the Academy has chosen as its main theme the culinary diversity of the way of the True Cross, referring to the itinerary, from Cartagena, Caravaca linked to Santiago de Compostela through Roncesvalles.

As part of preparations for the Jubilee Year 2017, this project aims to make visible the gastronomic and food potential of the Region of Murcia through one of its most unique events: the True Cross, which exceeds a cultural, religious and historical fact our borders and projected to the world.

In the late thirteenth and early fourteenth century, Caravaca, Cehegín and Bullas Templar were the only bailiwick of the ancient Kingdom of Murcia;

a fact which would certainly favor the existence of a Lignum Crucis and the subsequent arrival of pilgrims in search of protection.

At present, the Northwest Region, where the municipalities are mentioned along with the River Mula, Ricote and highlands of Lorca, make the wine region of the PDO 'Bullas'.

For the Academy of Gastronomy, it is the ideal place to establish the gastronomic map of the road to Vera Cruz pretext for runs various wine territories with quality indications, from Bullas to Navarra, through the lands of La Mancha, Valencia and Aragon, and also including the other two denominations Murcia, Yecla and Jumilla.

The bill was introduced last November 27, attendees by Rodrigo Borrega, president of the Academy, and the details of it reported by Francisco J. Navarro, academic and historian.

The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Bullas, Maria Dolores Muñoz and the older sister of the Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of the Blessed and Vera Cruz de Caravaca, Elisa Marin Gimenez-Giron;

as well as the president of the DO Bullas, Francisco Carreño Sandoval;

Lieutenant-Mayor of Caravaca, Enrique Fuentes Blanc;

Councillor of Tourism of the City of Cehegín, Ana Maria Molina Lopez;

Manager of Commonwealth Travel Services Northwest, Manuel Fernando Guerrero Sanchez

Councillor for Local Development and Tourism Águeda Fernández Egea and Town Planning, Juan Pedro Muñoz Gea, both by the City of Bullas;

as well as representatives of the City of Mula, in this case Ibernon and Jerome Manuel Moya, Local Area Development.

The presentation of the project was brilliantly complemented with a wine-pairing wine and food directed by Jose Sanchez of the Association of Sommeliers of the Region of Murcia.

The restaurant Bullas Borrego was responsible for preparing the caps.

The proposal was a sparkling Edoné of Almansa, the pleasure not to resign;

Artazu, the pink Navarra, the origin of the road;

one Bruma Strait, Jumilla red reminiscent road hazards;

Aragonia, a red gift Walker Aragon;

personal enrichment, symbolized in the raising hybrid, Utiel-Requena.

A Valche 2006 Bullas for the end of the road, peace Aceniche Valley.

And for dessert, sweet red yeclano EnEsencia, the pilgrim who internalizes the end of the line.

The Jubilee 2017 is coming and religious tourism is a niche tourism market growth.

If we add the food, which provides a high level of satisfaction to those who visit our country, we understand the importance of this proposal for the economic development of the municipalities that make up the Northwest region of Murcia.
